The Islamic Cooperation Youth Forum (ICYF) proudly announces the first ever “VIRTUAL WORKSHOP ON DOCUMENTARY FILMMAKING” in partnership with AL Jazeera Media Institute to equip young people with the tools and techniques to develop impactful contents and become the voice for their communities.

OBJECTIVES

• To empower young participants with the basic knowledge of documentary filmmaking
• To promote the participation of youth form diverse communities in the media.
• To learn how to make a documentary in a professional and creative way form the idea to the screen

PROGRAMME ELEMENTS

Introduction to documentary

Introducing the documentary, its importance and its characteristics

Interview art and techniques of the documentary

Introduction to the lighting concept in the documentary

Editing and the dramatic structure of the documentary

WORKSHOP FORMAT AND TIMELINE

• The workshop programme will be combination of theoretical and interactive sessions via zoom.
• This workshop is designed by Al Jazeera Media Institute within Al Jazeera Ambassadors Initiative to Train participants on basic concepts of Documentary Filmmaking.
• Timeline: 16 – 17 – 18 -19 March 2021

CERTIFICATE

• Full attended participants will be awarded with a verified certificate issued by Aljazeera Media Institute and ICYF

WHO CAN APPLY?

• Citizen from the OIC Member States or representative of a Muslim community in the non-OIC Member States
• Ability to communicate in English
• Aged between 18–30
• Some experience in documentary filmmaking
• University students, young media professionals, highly motivated youth in documentary filmmaking field, can apply on this program.
• Strong Media background (study, work experience or interest)
• Involved in/or have coordinated media related project
• Commitment to attend the full course of the Online Documentary Filmmaking Workshop.

SELECTION

Selection Committee will evaluate the applications based on eligibility and criteria, if the committee decides for further information can set online interview as the last stage of selection.

Selected participants will receive an email confirmation containing online program details. Due to a tight schedule, there will be no opportunity to inform those who are not selected. The general information on selection results will be posted on ICYF website and social media accounts
