The ECOSOC 2023 side event “The Turkish Humanitarian Diplomacy and Youth Participation: The Role of Youth in the Recovery from the February 2023 Earthquake in Türkiye” co-organized by ICYF and the Republic of Türkiye’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations was held on the 25th of April 2023 at the Turkish House in New York.

The Permanent Representative of Türkiye to the United Nations H.E. Sedat Önal, ICYF President H.E. Taha Ayhan attended the event and gave opening remarks followed by keynote speeches by H.E. Mr. Hameed Ajibaiye Opeloyeru, the Permanent Observer for The OIC to the U.N., and H.E. Mr. Muhammad Amir Khan Deputy Permanent Representative Of Pakistan To The U.N.

A panel discussion was also held as part of the side event with the participation of Mr. Jamil Ahmad, Director Of UNEP’s Intergovernmental Affairs, Mr. Si̇nan Karşiyaka, Director Of Administration And Finance at ICYF, Ms. Kristine “Liz” Leonardo the Programme Associate For The Multi-Religious Humanitarian Fund RFP, Mr. Mehmet Küçük, the MUSIAD Youth Branch Vice President and Ms. Betül Demi̇rel Graduate Student at Columbia University SIPA
