My name is Hibo Hassan Elmi, and I am an English professor and dedicated activist. My passion for education has led me to teach in the Technical and Vocational Education Training (TVET) sector in Djibouti, where I work to empower the next generation with the skills they need to succeed.
I graduated from Djibouti University with a bachelor’s degree in English Literature, and I am currently enrolled in a Master’s degree program in International Cooperation. I am fluent in English, French, and Arabic, and I have a strong command of Somali and Afar (local languages). I am passionate about using my skills and experience to uplift others and contribute to meaningful initiatives that foster growth and understanding.
In addition to my teaching role, I have proudly served nationally as a volunteer since 2011, eventually becoming the President of YAD (Youth in Action Djibouti) from 2019 to 2024. Internationally, I have been newly elected as the Vice President of the Arab Group in the Islamic Cooperation Youth Forum (ICYF). This position allows me to advocate for youth empowerment, intercultural dialogue, and positive change across the region. My work with ICYF reflects my commitment to making a difference not only on a national level but also on a broader international stage.
