Mr. Alagie Jarju has a career spanning over two decades working for and with young people. His commitment to championing the full participation of young people in socio-economic development and their personal advancement is evident throughout his work.

He has held leadership roles in various organizations, including the Gambia Red Cross Society Youth Commission, where he served as Board Chairperson of Activista The Gambia for five years, and the Gambia College Students Union, among others. Currently, he is serving as the Vice President representing the African Group at the Islamic Cooperation Youth Forum. He has also represented young people from The Gambia in several high-level international forums, including ECOWAS, the AU, and the UN.

Mr. Jarju is currently the Executive Director of the National Youth Council, where one of his primary functions is to advise the Government on matters relating to young people. Prior to his appointment as Executive Director, he served as the Programme Manager for the Council for five years. The Council’s main responsibility is to enhance the participation of young people in national development processes.
