H.E. Taha Ayhan, the President of the Islamic Cooperation Youth Forum expressed its strong condemnation of the killing of Shireen Abu Akleh, Al-Jazeera correspondent in cold blood in the Palestinian territories. The Al-Jazeera journalist was killed while covering Israeli violence.

The ICYF highlights in the strongest terms that this crime is a clear violation of international law, and an attack on freedom of the press and integrity of basic human rights, while demands immediate investigation to bring all those responsible to justice.

The Islamic Cooperation Youth Forum emphasizes that the brutal killing of Abu Akleh while documenting crimes against the Palestinian people expresses the vandalism and brutality of the Israeli occupation, as seen in its repeat violations of press freedom and targeting of civilians in a bid to isolate the Palestinian people from public opinion, and the world from the realities of Israeli apartheid.

ICYF calls on every relevant international institution to take necessary action, ensure justice is preserved and provide necessary protection to the press and civilians in the occupied Palestinian territories according to international humanitarian law.
