ICYF participated International Conference on “Role of Young Women and Girls in Countering Violent Extremism” in Pakistan

ICYF participated in the International Conference in Pakistan on Feb 6 2020 on “Role of Young Women and Girls in Countering Violent Extremism” organized by ICYF-ERC and Youth Advocacy Network in cooperation with Ministry of Religious Affairs and Inter-Faith Harmony of Pakistan.

Dr. Fadila Grine, Senior Advisor at ICYF, delivered the speech on behalf the President of ICYf in the opening ceremony of the conference. In her presentation in the first panel, she emphasized on the role and contributions of ICYF towards empowering youth and girls in the OIC geography and beyond, while adopting preventive yet holistic approach to address prevailing misconceptions surrounding youth and girls, especially on identity issues. The conference also celebrated the auspicious occasion of 15th Anniversary of ICYF.

The delegations had the honor to be received by H.E. Dr. Arif Alvi, the President of Islamic Republic of Pakistan along with the Federal Minister of Religious Affairs, H.E. Pir Dr. Noor ul Haq Qadri. His excellency acknowledged the importance of the International Conference on Role of Women in CVE and welcomed the conference outcomes and recommendations put forward by the delegation of ICYF Eurasian and Youth Advocacy Network.

Afterwards, the delegations paid a visit to the office of the Prime Minister and was received by Special Assistant to Prime Minister in charge of Youth Affairs. H.E Mr. Usman Dar to discuss future cooperation on youth development initiatives. ICYF delegation briefed H.E on ICYF related projects, especially Young Business Hub, as Pakistan is currently conducting one of the major initiatives in this field in an effort to annually assist at least 150 thousand entrepreneurs and business startups.
