2nd International Model OIC for High Schools, organized by Islamic Cooperation Youth Forum with Beyoglu Education and Cultural Foundation under the theme of ”Reviewing the Past and Building the Future in the Light of the History of Islamic Science”.
The Opening Ceremony of the 2nd International Model OIC for High Schools was addressed by Mr. Şaban Kurt, Chairman of the Board of Beyoglu Education and Cultural Foundation, who pointed out the significance of the programme for young generation to better understand diplomacy, policy making and decision-making process. On the behalf of ICYF, Mr. Rasul Omarov the Director General, stated the ICYF’s efforts towards diplomacy for the youth of ummah to build the bridges of peace through the young people by bringing them together.
Opening Ceremony concluded with the speeches of Mr. Levent Yazıcı, the Head of Education of Istanbul District and Mr. Ihsan Erkul from General Directorate of Religious Teaching of Education Ministry.
The first panel of 2nd International Model OIC for High Schools hosted Mr. Marghoob Saleem Butt, Executive Director of OIC Independent Permanent Human Rights Council (IPHRC) on ‘’Struggling against Human Rights Violations as a Core Value of Muslim Identity: Case of Al-Quds, Kashmir and Rohingya’’.
The second panel of the event is presented by Mr. Abdula Manafi Mutualo, Head of Department of Youth Policy at ICYF, on OIC Youth Strategy: Empowering Youth with Better Opportunities of Participation in Social and Economic Development. Mr. Mutualo adressed the initiatives of ICYF to develop the young minds of Ummah for the betterment of the Muslim World.
The third panel of the day is presented by Mr. Gürsel Aksoy, Represantative of Prof. Dr. Fuat Sezgin Islamic Science History Foundation on ‘’Prof. Dr. Fuat Sezgin and History of Islamic Science’’. Mr. Aksoy highlighted the significance of remembering Prof. Dr. Fuat Sezgin’s contribution to Islamic Science as well as reminding to the participants the year of 2019 is declared as Prof. Dr. Fuat Sezgin’s Year from the Republic of Turkey.
The last panel of the day hosted another special guest, Mr. Mehmet Metin Eker, Director General of Coordination Office of COMCEC, on ‘’The role of COMCEC on Economic and Trade Cooperation among OIC Member States’’. During his presentation Mr. Eker briefly explained the Islamic Finance and Islamic Banking system and the researches done by COMCEC to be presented for Muslim World.
The event will continue in the next three (03) days, in which the Delegates, consisting of 224 students from 50 Member States of OIC, will debate for drafting Resolutions in four (4) Standing Committees of OIC (Independent Permanent Human Rights Commission, Islamic Conference of Youth and Sports Ministers, Standing Committee for Information and Cultural Affairs and Standing Committee for Economic and Commercial Cooperation) as a representatives of OIC Member States, as well as Istanbul Declaration of the 2nd High School Model OIC.

On the 2nd and 3rd day of International Model OIC High Schools, the Delegates, consist of 224 students from 50 Member States of OIC divided for four (4) Standing Committees of OIC. Delegates continued with diplomatic simulations following intense diplomatic trainings on resolution writing, diplomatic negotiation skills, and lobbying. Delegates attended the following committees, acting as ministers of esteemed OIC Member States in diplomatic simulations.
The Diplomatic Simulation Topics of the 2nd International Model OIC High Schools are as follows:
1) Independent Permanent Human Rights Commission (IPHRC) to discuss the agenda item on Struggling against Human Rights Violations as a Core Value of Muslim Identity: Case of Al-Quds, Kashmir, Rohingya
2) Islamic Conference of Youth and Sports Ministers (ICYSM) to discuss the agenda item on OIC Youth Strategy: Empowering Youth with Better Opportunities of Participation in Social and Economic Development
3) Standing Committee for Information and Cultural Affairs (COMIAC) to discuss the agenda items on
4) Standing Committee for Economic and Commercial Cooperation (COMCEC) to discuss the agenda item on Towards the Establishment of OIC Common Market by also Using Effective Islamic Financial Instruments
Also, youth delegates were actively engaged in the simulation of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers, where they intensely discussed and lobbied for relevant resolutions on political, economic, human rights and youth policy. In the spirit of Islamic Solidarity, those resolutions and the Istanbul Declaration were unanimously adopted by all participants within the rules of procedures implemented in the meetings of OIC.
It should be noted that, the youth delegates have placed high dedication, sincerity and efforts towards ensuring that all aforementioned documents would mirror the concerns the Muslim World.
