The aim of the one-day event is to raise awareness on the Khojaly Massacre which was an unprecedented massacre, committed against the Azerbaijani population in the town of Khojaly in 1992.
The event was co-organized by the Islamic Cooperation Youth Forum (ICYF) and Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Republic of Turkey in Ankara, was held on 27th February 2019 in the premises of the Embassy, with the participation of Ambassadors of the OIC Member States in Ankara, head of diplomatic corps and international organizations as well as the representatives of university clubs.
The programme was opened with a recitation of verses from the Holy Quran and the Stand in Silence for Victims of Khojaly Massacre and follow by the welcoming remarks of a High-level official of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey, continue with the opening Statements by His Excellency Ambassador Khazar Ibrahim, Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Turkey as well as His Excellency Mr. Taha Ayhan, ICYF President.
“If we raised our voice and stand together in Khojaly tragedy, today we would not have Rohingya issue, Kashmir issue or any other tragic event. So our duty is to stay firm and together”. While commemorating the 27th anniversary of the Khojaly Genocide, ICYF President Mr.Taha Ayhan delivered a speech in the opening ceremony.
He also thanked all the guests who show solidarity and support for Justice of Khojaly Campaign.
The programme continued with “Justice for Khojaly” awareness video presentation of ICYF and ended with the lunch hosted by H.E. Mr. Taha Ayhan, President of ICYF.
In the framework of the programme, exhibition of Khojaly genocide is displayed.
